Description: Edit: I am not a baseball fan, I saw on the news about what went down, this, during saturday night's game with the Padres/Rockies, since I live in San Diego. Also, just quit the hate comments, you're making yourself look like an idiot.
San Diego Padres second baseman Edgar Gonzalez was taken off the field on a cart after being hit on his helmet by a Jason Hammel fastball in the bottom of the sixth inning.
Gonzalez turned his right shoulder trying to get out of the way of the pitch when it hit him on the side of the helmet. Gonzalez went down in a heap as the Padres medical staff came rushing to home plate.
Gonzalez was on the ground for nearly five minutes before he sat up. He was then helped to his feet by Padres trainers Todd Hutcheson and Paul Navarro, who held him up and helped him to the cart, which left the field for the hospital.
Gonzalez was the third batter hit by Hammel in the game, who left after walking the next batter, pinch-hitter Drew Macias.
Padres first baseman Adrian Gonzalez left the game at the end of the sixth inning, apparently to be with his brother Edgar.
There was no word yet on the condition of Gonzalez, who had singled twice before his exit. He was taken to Scripps Memorial Hospital for further evaluation.
